What to put in your message

A few details let a placement advisor check your situation against Liberty's rules before replying, which saves a round of questions.

• Your track, chosen from the Program list, and the course you are preparing for, such as NURS 768 or NURS 674
• Your city and state, and how far you can drive on clinical days
• Where your Gate course stands: open now, next term or later
• Hours still needed, if you are already partway through a practicum
• Clinicians or sites you have already asked, and what they said
• Anything the practicum team has offered or suggested
• For PMHNP students, whether you want part of your hours by telehealth

Not sure of your course number? Choose "Not sure yet" in the Program list and describe where you are in the program. We can work it out from your degree plan.

What happens after you send it

1. A placement advisor reads itThey check your track and state against Liberty's published rules, including the states where your track cannot do practicum and the RN license you need there.
2. You get a replyIt may come by email, call or text, as the note under the form explains, with any questions and a first view of what a preceptor and site for your track need to look like.
3. A written quote and termsIf a search makes sense for you, both come in writing. You decide whether to go ahead.
4. The search beginsIt starts the day you agree. From then on a placement advisor keeps you posted, and you stay in charge of everything that goes to Liberty.

Chat, WhatsApp and text

Every page has a chat button that reaches the placement desk. It suits quick questions, such as whether your state is open for your track, or whether a clinician you know might fit Liberty's rules. The WhatsApp and text buttons reach the same desk from your phone.

For anything detailed, the form works better, because it keeps your track, course, location and start term together in one request.

Replies in the chat come from the placement desk. Our answers on Liberty's rules come straight from Liberty's published pages, with the source named, and the practicum team confirms anything decisive.

Questions only Liberty can answer

Some questions belong with Liberty, and a placement advisor will point you to the right office. Whether a preceptor is approved, your exact submission cut-off and how your hours split across courses are Liberty's calls.

What a placement advisor can tell you first

The first reply shows how well we know Liberty. Give us your track, course and county, and a placement advisor can say which kind of preceptor the practicum needs, whether your state is open to your track, which RN license the practicum state expects, and how much time your Gate course leaves. Your compliance items go to Liberty through CastleBranch and your Gate course, so our conversation can stay on the search itself: which clinicians, which sites and what timing.

If you are a clinician

Preceptors who have been asked by a Liberty student, or who are open to it, can pick "I'm a preceptor (not a student)" from the Program list. The page for preceptors sets out what Liberty asks of preceptors on each track, so you can see the commitment before you reply.
