Who we are
Liberty Preceptor is an independent placement service. A student comes to us with a track, a location and a practicum date, and a placement advisor looks for a preceptor and site that fit Liberty's published rules for that track. We then help the student prepare what Liberty's Gate course and the site contract ask for.
We have done this work since student-found preceptorships became part of Liberty's programs, when part of the job of finding a preceptor moved onto students. Liberty's wording today still asks NP students to "take an active role in finding potential placements", and the catalog has MSN students secure a facility of their own choosing. That is the gap we fill, track by track and state by state.
How the work divides
The division is simple. Liberty sets the rules, reviews the paperwork and gives the final approval. We do the searching, the rules check and the preparation, so what you submit is ready for that review. You sit in the middle and submit, with a placement advisor behind every step.

Working alongside the practicum team
Liberty's practicum team is real help. Its School of Nursing staff include an Assistant Director of Practicum Experiences and several Practicum & Clinical Coordinators, and Liberty describes the team as committed to helping students identify suitable preceptors and practicum sites. Our work is built to sit beside that team: every lead we bring is one the team can review in the usual way.
What we add is time and reach: more calls to more clinicians in your area, and a close read of your paperwork against Liberty's published rules before it goes in. Students who work with us keep the team informed and share our leads, so both searches pull in the same direction. The comparison of the routes sets out what each one is good for.
How we keep our Liberty facts straight
Every Liberty rule on this site comes from a Liberty source: the 2026-27 catalog, the online program pages, the state licensure lookup, and older handbooks and FAQs where nothing newer is public. Each page lists its sources and the date we last checked them, and older material is marked as older.
When Liberty's sources disagree, we show both. The PMHNP certificate is one example: the catalog lists NURS 754 and NURS 755 with 504 hours, while the program page lists NURS 768, NURS 769 and NURS 770. Where Liberty publishes nothing, such as FNP preceptor credentials or a submission deadline in days, we say so and send you to the practicum team or your Gate course in Canvas.

How does Liberty Preceptor relate to Liberty University?
We are an independent placement service that works alongside Liberty's practicum team. Liberty's School of Nursing sets the practicum rules, its practicum team runs the official process, and every site and preceptor is Liberty's to approve. Our part is the search and the preparation, so what you bring to that process is complete and fits Liberty's rules.
Who talks to the practicum team, me or you?
You do, and we make it easy. Your placement is between you and Liberty, and the practicum team works with you directly at APRN.DNPPracticum@liberty.edu for the NP and DNP tracks. A placement advisor helps you work out what to send and what to ask, so each message is clear and complete. That keeps your Liberty file accurate and in your hands.
Do you have reviews from Liberty students?
Our reviews page carries reviews from Liberty students we worked with, posted with their permission and in their own words. That page is the one place reviews appear on this site. If you worked with us, ask the placement desk in the chat for a review link.
What if Liberty changes its rules?
Liberty's catalog is issued for each academic year, and its program and state pages change between catalogs. We recheck the sources behind each page and show the date. If your Gate course or the practicum team gives you a newer rule than we show, follow Liberty and tell us so we can correct the page.
Where do you look for preceptors?
Among clinicians and practices near you, starting with those whose credentials match your track: psychiatric prescribers for PMHNP students, primary care clinicians for FNP students, nurse educators and leaders for MSN students. For PMHNP students we also consider telehealth practices within Liberty's 50% limit.
